STAR is permanently re-evaluating which activities make the most sense to organize. These are the current ones which happen regularly.
![]() Small eventsGetting coffee, walking at the beach, having a game night, and learning about each other's culture- all this and more fall under the section of small events. | ![]() Samen etenSamen eten is Dutch and means eating together, to share a meal. The dinner table can act as a unifier, a place of community. During Ramadan STAR hosted Iftar dinners after sunset. | ![]() SportsFor communal sports activities sometimes you don’t need to be able to speak the same language. You share a common goal and chase a ball together. STAR organizes bi-weekly football games, table tennis and basketball. |

![]() TaalcaféEvery two weeks there are communal Dutch learning sessions in De Herberg, a local restaurant in Middelburg. They are great for new students and people residing in the refugee centers who want to learn Dutch. | ![]() ChildrenEvery week a group of students has the chance to go to AZC- one of the local refugee centers- and to play with children. | ![]() Welcome WalkOnce a year STAR organizes the Welcome Walk. A walk around town with different stops. The last walk was a collaboration between the refugee center A58, Middelburg, HZ, and UCR. Local businesses and people participate and in the end, there is a huge picnic accompanied by music. |
